home improvements

Once the Christmas decor came down, I started becoming obsessed with making small improvements to the house. I was trying to be patient when we moved in so I didn’t have decor regret and so far that has worked out in my favor.

I spent months looking for a new big mirror that I could mount on the wall instead of keeping it on the floor. While I love the look of a leaning mirror, our mirror is at the bottom of the steps (for lack of a better location) and it felt cramped. I landed on this Pottery Barn black mirror and it makes the space feel so much bigger.

I always felt like my desk was a bit of out of place in the living room corner, especially since I keep a huge monitor on top instead of an aesthetically pleasing Mac laptop. This tiny $10 lamp I found in Target the other day is making it feel like a part of the house.

According to my family, I am extremely difficult to shop for. However, my sisters did an amazing shop with Christmas gift and got me this Lulu and Georgia vase. It makes the grocery store greens look luxurious. I got a tiny flower frog to make the leaves stand up taller.

I have been on a mission to add pops of color into the house after realizing how happy the green rug makes me, so I recently adding in these burgundy candles from Sezane (these seem to be sold out so you can also try these). At first I thought they would be a holiday addition, but they will be staying year round.

Another thing I did that cost me absolutely nothing but made a huge difference in making my home feel calm when I walk in, was getting rid of some of my throw pillows on my couch and bed. I always felt like both of them looked messy because I had to constantly fluff all my pillows. I opted for keeping one long lumber pillow on my bed and two small pillows on my couch (now having 4 seems crazy to me idk how I did that).

I still have some improvements I want to make to the bedroom, but waiting to find pieces that I am obsessed with.

I never thought I cared about my blankets too much until my aunt and uncle got us an Apparis blanket for our wedding. I could not believe how insane these blankets are. Anyone that comes over and sits on our couch immediately compliments how cozy this blanket is. Apparis just sent me this chocolate blanket and it makes sitting on my couch watching Bravo an even better experience.
